Scientific, Engineering & Analysis DSI provides basic research, applied research and analyses as related to weapons, munitions, materials, manufacturing processes and survivability/lethality of Department of Defense personnel and materiel. Our ability to advance and validate predictive capabilities in support of both survivability/lethality analysis and physics-based weapons performance simulations ensures our nation's technological superiority remains at an all-time high across the full spectrum of battlefield threats and environments. DSI obtains a wide variety of technical data on both new concepts and improvements to existing systems. We solve identified problems with fielded systems and enhance the exploratory development of weapons and systems to support Department of Defense-wide program initiatives. DSI's scientists and engineers conduct basic and applied research, advanced development, conceive experiments, experiment test plans, and compute simulations for critical Department of Defense projects. DSI's work on U.S. Army programs is conducted within Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Operations. We specialize in all major disciplines of engineering: specifically, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and civil. DSI's scientific, engineering and analysis support capabilities include support for:
