Research, Science & Technology Division

The Research, Science and Technology Division is dedicated to using science and technology to save lives. Continuing the legacy built by Hugh DeHaven more than sixty years ago, RSTD provides studies and analysis in transportation-related fields, such as the human behavior aspects of seat belt and motorcycle helmet use.

The division applies new technology to proven research methods whenever possible; RSTD developed its palmCrash software application for use by its own employees, and the program is now used by crash investigators around the world.

Whether through its injury-control research and crash reconstruction techniques, or by supporting and safeguarding computer systems that contain sensitive military information, RSTD does all it can to make the world a safer place.
